Dr. Sonu Khanal brings 14 years of expertise in hydrology, climate change, and climate risk analysis to hydrominds. He has successfully led international projects on flood and drought risk, climate finance, disaster risk reduction, and nature-based solutions, working with clients including international financing institutions, governments, and research organizations. Sonu holds a PhD in hydroclimatic extremes from VU University of Amsterdam and has a proven track record in mountain hydrology, water resources management, multi-hazard early warning systems and innovative climate risk assessments. Before co-founding hydrominds he worked as Senior Hydrologist & Climate Change Expert in FutureWater, as a Researcher at the Dutch Royal Meteorological Institute, and as Water Resources Modeller at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development in Nepal.
