Climate risk assessment for water supply in Bangladesh

We support the Asian Development Bank in its operations in Bangladesh. Here we support the Cluster Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project, which rehabilitates and expands urban water supply for eight towns in the country. Four towns are located in a cluster around Ishwardi in the northwest and four towns are located in the east in a cluster near Cumilla.

To increase the communities’ resilience to climate change, the water supply systems shifts from solely relying on depleting groundwater resources to bringing in surface water drawn from the Padma and Meghna rivers.

Hydrominds supports the project with a detailed climate risk assessment and recommendations to make the project climate change proof and optimize the project’s contribution to climate change adaptation.

Last April, we joined a field visit to the eight towns to understand the project’s climate change challenges.
