Hydrominds is pleased to announce that Dr. Arun Bhakta Shrestha has joined the team as CEO of the Asia Office, based in Nepal. He will lead the company’s expanding portfolio and partnerships across the region. His appointment strengthens Hydrominds’ engagement in Asia and the Pacific and supports development of products and operational services for hydropower, river basin management, climate risk assessment, and disaster risk reduction.

Dr. Arun Bhakta Shrestha is a senior climate and environmental risk specialist with about 30 years of experience in climate change, glacial processes, water resources management, and disaster risk reduction in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. Renowned for his expertise in glacial hazard assessment, early warning systems, and integrated river basin management, he has led pioneering work in high-altitude snow and glacier monitoring and contributed to landmark glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) risk reduction initiatives in Nepal.

Previously, he served as Strategic Group Lead for Reducing Climate and Environmental Risks at ICIMOD, where he led regional programmes on cryosphere and water risks and on clean air. He managed multi-country initiatives and large programme portfolios. He is widely recognized for bridging science and policy, advancing transboundary cooperation, and strengthening institutional capacity to deliver climate-resilient, risk-informed development solutions.
