At this year’s European Geosciences Union (EGU) meeting, Walter Immerzeel was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt medal.
The medal is awarded to scientists “who have performed research in developing regions for the benefit of people and society through which they have achieved exceptional international standing in geosciences and planetary and space sciences, defined in their widest senses”.

Walter was awarded the medal for his excellent mountain hydrology research that specifically targets the Himalayas, the water towers of Asia, important for developing countries in that region.
At hydrominds we are very proud to have Walter in our team as Chief Science Officer, contributing to our products for societal impact in mountains worldwide!
